Charles J. Stauffer, age 93, of York Township, York, died at 6:00 PM Friday, March 15, 2024, at Wellspan York Hospital. He was the husband of Lois J. (Hixon) Stauffer.
Born February 22, 1931, in York, he was the only child of the late Charles H. and Sylvia N. (Beckmeyer) Stauffer. He was a 1949 graduate of William Penn High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. After college he served in the United States Army where he played with the 7th Army Symphony Orchestra during the Korean War. He was first employed at D&H Distribution in Harrisburg and later at IH Hershner. He founded Christmas Tree Hill in 1971, which has now grown to ten locations, from which he retired in 2000.
In addition to his wife of 70 years, Mr. Stauffer is survived by two sons, James R. Stauffer, and his wife Gina, of York, Joseph L. Stauffer, and his wife Julie, of York; two grandchildren, Jason C. Stauffer, and his wife Becky, of Spring Grove; and Jessica L. (Stauffer) Hamer, of Middletown; and four great grandchildren, Tony, Laney, Ben, and Riley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2024, at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 AM Friday. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery in Jacobus.
