Ralph Eugene Gladfelter, 83, passed away with his family by his side February 24, 2026. He was a devoted husband to F. Anne (Rutter) Gladfelter for almost 60 years and a devoted father to his two daughters, Michelle L. Gladfelter and Melinda L. Bare and her husband Bernell W. Bare, Jr. He was “Pappy” to his two granddaughters, Maura M.V. Bare and Cali E. Gladfelter. He was soon to be great-grandfather to a great granddaughter in September.
He was a Veteran of the Marine Corps, which he took a lot of pride in his service. He retired in 2008 from G&S Snack Foods but also worked at Tastysnack and Stauffer Biscuit Company. He loved music and had played in a band from his military times until the early 2000’s playing bass and singing. He could always be caught whistling a tune and tapping his foot. He was also talented with woodworking and has left his work of art in his own home as well as his daughters. He was a member of the Shiloh American Legion, Hellam VFW, and the Jaycee’s. He leaves a sister, Freida Gray and her husband Ronald, and nephew James Gray and wife Beth. He was preceded in death by brother Harry Gladfelter and parents George and Catherine (Lentz) Gladfelter. He was truly a family man and supporter to family and friends and truly will be missed.
