William J. Dempsey

William “Pop” Dempsey went home to the Lord on February 15, 2026, at 4:40PM.  He was 97. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and was one of 12 children. Pop and his late wife Regina R. Dempsey have 9 surviving children beside their late Michael Dempsey. Ceil Dempsey Cramer, Stephen Dempsey and his wife Janet, Maria Licata and her husband Frank, David Dempsey, Jeannie Billet and her husband Mike, Elizabeth Strayer and her husband Jim, Ed Dempsey, Anne Stough and her husband Bob and Dr. Joe Dempsey and his wife Kathy.  Pop is also survived by his 51 grand and great grandchildren and his sister Anne Cooley of NY and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Abundant Life Center. He loved fishing, boating, working on his tan, playing (winning) cards and Joe’s Pizza Plaza.  He was Pop to many as he shared his life, testimony and notes or letters of encouragement. As long as he was able, he shared Jesus with everyone he encountered.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Abundant Life Center, 3930 Farm Drive, York , with  Pastor Dan Smucker officiating.  Burial will be private.
